NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS?
Well, I don’t usually do this, I don’t think… Well I’ve probably done them on here… But I’m going to start paying attention to my resolutions… Pay more attention to Pedestal. With school & working 2 jobs it’s been so crazy, but I love this blog and its message so much that I’m going to be sure to make time for it. Begin blue printing...

So, where have I been?
Well, I finally feel like it’s time to get Pedestal started up again after a long 11 months of not so steady posting. The reason I took such a long break away from Pedestal is because I want to always give my ALL to this blog and the past 11 months have been hectic ones. I finally got a new place.  After a good year or so living at my grandparents I knew it was time to get out on my own...

Sprouter →
I just came across this website named “Sprouter” which is a website to help entrepreneurs start up their businesses. The website allows people who have been successful in entrepreneurship to answer the questions of those who are trying to be successful as well.  What’s even better about this website… for Pedestal at least, is that it was founded by Sarah Prevette. ...

Janet Echelman was rejected from art school after art school, but never let that stop her. “Art Unusual” is an understatement for her creations. Her innovative art ideas amaze. She’s also working on a project for City Hall, Philadelphia.  Watch & see her in action.

Pedestal Blog →
mourningbark: Pedestal is a blog that I created back in October of 2009 to empower young women. My intention was to be the person to influence positive things that women weren’t hearing from their main sources; mothers & fathers. So far, Pedestal has been going almost two years strong & I hope to continue this blog until the very end. My goal is to eventually turn it in to a monthly...

LAST TIME!!!
MOVED I couldn’t do the whole side jawn blog lol… Having WOOD as my side blog to Pedestal didn’t make sense. I really wanted it to be my primary blog, especially since I am on a creative hiatus for Pedestal. Sorry for all the confusion, but this should be the last time I change the location of my blog for a while. Sincerely, Jess New Blog http://mourningbark.tumblr.com/

The Lesson
I keep on dying again. Veins collapse, opening like the Small fists of sleeping Children. Memory of old tombs, Rotting flesh and worms do Not convince me against The challenge. The years And cold defeat live deep in Lines along my face. They dull my eyes, yet I keep on dying, Because I love to live.  -Maya Angelou

Happy New Year!
I hope all is well & all went well for everyone last night & today as we celebrated the coming of another year. 2011, Hmmm, where are all the flying cars & Rosies (The Jetsons)? I thought that’s what I’d see, but I guess we haven’t entered that age yet :(  Anyway, my reason for really coming on here & blogging wasn’t to talk about the new year, or...

Did you have your dose of art today?
Mirit Ben Nun is an Israeli artist. Her paintings (that I’ve seen) consist of beautiful colors & abstract designs that make your eyes… Happy. The women & faces of women she paints are amazing in every aspect from proportions of lips to face, to body design, colors, and patterns. HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM PEDESTAL :)
It’s the holidays & things can get a little hectic. With all the parties, gifts to wrap, stressful mall visiting, etc, you’re bound to be going through the ups & downs of the holiday roller coaster. Here are a few things I try to remember around this time of the year. It’s not the end of the world if you can’t buy everyone a present. We are in a recession after...
